Sheriff Steven McCain warns of the latest scam to hit Grant Parish. Callers are poising as agents of the United States H.U.D. (Housing and Urban Development). They are telling people that a demographic study of Grant Parish was done and that they have been selected to receive a large amount of money. The caller goes on to ask for your bank account and then asks for you to purchase gift cards.
There is an old saying, “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is”, stated Sheriff McCain.
Please do not give out any of your personal information to anyone over the phone that you aren’t completely certain of their intentions.
