Report of Vehicle with Driver Asleep Results in Drug Arrest of Colfax Man


The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle parked in the road with the driver asleep in the Dartigo community. When Corporal’s Jimmi McCully and Zac Daenen arrived, they found the driver passed out with the vehicle still in drive and the driver’s foot on the brake with what turned out to be a synthetic marijuana cigarette in his hand that was still burning. After a field sobriety test, the driver was arrested. Once at the jail, Deputy Aaron Dampier located three bags of crystal methamphetamine hidden in his pants.

Timothy Chelette, 46 years old, of 268 Dartigo Road, Colfax, was arrested for D.W.I. 2nd offense, Possession of Synthetic Marijuana (2nd offense), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of C.D.S. II (methamphetamine), Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution, and Driving Under Suspension.
