About Sheriff McCain

A lifelong resident of Grant Parish, Steven graduated from Grant High School in 1995.  In 1997 he began his career in law enforcement as a dispatcher for the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office.  In 1998 he earned a degree in criminal justice was transferred to the patrol division at the Sheriff’s Office.  He attended the Alexandria Regional Police Academy, graduating first in his class. 

 

In 2000, he went to work for the Louisiana State Police and was assigned to work in Troop E.  He was a hostage negotiator for the State Police, a training officer for new Troopers, and was a member of a specialized tactical team.  In 2005 he joined the Grant Parish District Attorney's Office as an Investigator.

 

On July 1, 2012, Steven McCain proudly took the oath of office as the new Sheriff of Grant Parish.  At the age of 34,  Steven was the youngest Sheriff in Louisiana.  McCain then assembled a team of dedicated Deputy Sheriffs and began to work toward accomplishment and accountability in the Sheriff’s Office.

 

He is the husband to Kathy Rogers from Pollock and the proud father of Abbygail and John Truman.  The McCain’s are active member's of Colfax United Methodist Church and are involved in numerous community organizations and activities.
